In order to create light photography, there are a few things that you need to know regarding the different settings on the camera you need to change to create the light photography. Firstly, you need to set the shutter speed to allow enough time for the camera to capture the light movement to form the image. The longer the shutter is left open for, the more time the camera will have to capture the light.
The next thing you need to do is to lower the ISO. By doing this im a ledgend, it will minimise the amount of noise that will be captured in the image.
The last thing you need to adjust on the camera settings to make light photography is the aperture. This controls what type of light that camera allows through the lens, including how much light is in the background and what light will be in the photograph. These three camera settings are the elements that make up the exposure triangle.
My interpretation of light photography is very similar to doodling on a piece of paper. I see light photography as a way of having a bit of fun, drawing shapes and objects quickly that look almost animated as well as showing skill in the ability to draw and your own personal creativity. However, this is only my own interpretation of light photography. After looking at a few different things on "www.lightphotographypaintings.com" I realised that there are a few different ways of using light in photography. This includes using light to illuminate a room to set a different emotion in the room which would have been different otherwise without the light, using it to create a sense of technology and innovation when you see pictures of cars are night with the light front their headlights trailing them as well as the doodle style of light photography I have already spoken about.
To take these photographs, I have set the camera to the lowest ISO setting (100) and the shutter speed to its slowest setting which is 30seconds in this case. As you can see in both photographs, there is a bit of background light. In order to make this less visible and the actual creative light more clear, I could've increased the aperture.
To create the first picture I attached an LED light to a pair of head phones and span them around, creating the compressed spiral effect. To improve this photograph, I would spread the spiral out making it taller and I would shorten the shutter speed and 30seconds was too long to draw the spiral with the LED light.
To create the second photograph, I simply help an LED light and wrote out my name. To improve this, I would've increased the aperture slightly to removed more of the background light, written my name slightly lowed so it was all in frame and planned it better so that the "J" would be the right way around along with the rest of the letters.
